Have you ever been tricked by lighting when buying a gemstone? Filters and specialist lighting are nothing new in the gem world. This is why sunlight matters so much when selecting a gemstone. Gemstones can appear dramatically different depending on the lighting they are viewed in. This happens for a few reasons.
Are Carved Gemstone Rings Fragile?
Are carved gemstone rings fragile? Are carved gemstone rings comfortable? Can you wear carved gemstone rings every day?
Many fine pieces were simply not intended to be knocked against hard surfaces, slipped into handbags or pockets, exposed repeatedly to water and sanitiser, or dropped onto tile or stone floors. Jewellery, like anything well made, requires considered handling.
Pure Gold Kundan Star Ring.
Custom kundan star rings can be achieved in most gemstones but for this project I chose a carveable classic throughout history. These rings are crafted using the traditional Indian inlay and setting technique called kundan, a process that employs purified 24-carat gold. The gold is beaten into extremely fine ribbons and carefully pressed into anchor cavities and motifs carved directly into the surface of the gemstone.

Custom Made Jewellery. What got me started?
Products at Cartier and Bulgari were all exceptional with attention to detail and design but I would always think about how nice it would be to be able to work together with a customer, gem dealers and jewellers and make them a bespoke fine jewel that tells their own story. While a lot of customers were brand focussed there was no shortage creative customers who had their own ideas and strong stories.
